Canon Introduces the New Lightweight Full-Frame Canon EOS R8 Mark II, Offering Reliable Performance and Creative Freedom
The Canon EOS R8 Mark II combines the quality of a full-frame mirrorless camera with portability and enhanced image stabilization, enabling wider compositions, striking background blur, and impressive image quality in low-light conditions.
Building on the success of the EOS R8, the Canon EOS R8 Mark II responds to photographers’ needs with greater control and more advanced features in a compact body. Designed for those who want to explore more—from new destinations to new creative ideas—the Canon EOS R8 Mark II is a versatile option for travel photography. It is easy to carry, extremely simple to use, and helps capture once-in-a-lifetime moments.
The Canon EOS R8 Mark II also stands out with a modern design that represents the beginning of a new era for the EOS R System. While continuing Canon’s design heritage, it brings it into a more contemporary form tailored to the needs and preferences of today’s photographers and content creators.
At the heart of the Canon EOS R8 Mark II is a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor powered by a DIGIC X processor. Together, these deliver exceptional clarity, rich colors, and an impressive dynamic range. The powerful In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) system provides up to 7.5 stops of image stabilization, making it easier to shoot handheld without compromising image quality and to capture sharp images in low light or while on the move.
Bringing together a wide range of imaging technologies focused on creativity and performance in a compact, image-stabilized body, the Canon EOS R8 Mark II is particularly well suited to travel photography. Its extensive feature set also includes advanced functions inherited from higher-end EOS R System cameras. These include Registered Person Priority, which keeps selected people in focus, and pre-continuous shooting, which helps capture unexpected scenes before the user has time to react.

Ready for Every Moment of the Journey
From safaris and wildlife encounters to street performances and festivals, the most memorable moments of a journey often unfold within seconds. With a continuous shooting speed of 40 fps and an expanded buffer capable of processing up to 73 RAW files in a single burst, the Canon EOS R8 Mark II can easily keep up with fast-moving action.
Pre-continuous shooting in H+ mode begins recording approximately half a second before the shutter button is fully pressed, providing up to 20 additional images. Whether you are waiting for a crowd to clear in front of an iconic landmark or anticipating a family member’s reaction to trying a new dish, the chances of missing the decisive moment are reduced.
Featuring Deep Learning-powered subject detection, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II automatically detects and tracks people, animals, and vehicles, while eye, face, head, and body tracking quickly brings subjects into sharp focus. Improved tracking continuity helps maintain focus even when the subject briefly leaves the frame. This makes it easier to follow travel companions moving through crowded environments. Like the flagship EOS R1, the system can autofocus in low-light conditions down to EV -7.5.
With Registered Person Priority, up to 10 faces can be registered in the camera and up to 100 faces on a memory card. The Canon EOS R8 Mark II automatically recognizes registered family members and friends when they enter the frame and focuses on them according to the priority order specified by the user. This makes it easier to keep loved ones in sharp focus in crowded travel environments, group shots, and spontaneous moments.

Compact, Lightweight and Creative
The new, simplified EOS design provides a reassuring and intuitive shooting experience. With customizable buttons, controls, and modes, the Canon EOS R8 Mark II can be easily adapted to different shooting styles. The camera also pairs perfectly with Canon’s versatile range of lightweight RF lenses, from the all-purpose RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STMand ultra-fast RF 45mm F1.2 STM prime lens to the compact RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM telephoto zoom lens for wildlife and distant subjects.
Design improvements compared with the EOS R8 include a multi-controller for faster operation when shooting handheld. The optional K562, separate tripod socket, and direct access to the camera battery further enhance ease of use.
Canon Picture Styles and Filmtone Color Filters allow photographers to reproduce the atmosphere of a destination as they experienced it. The adjustable and natural-looking Smooth Skin effect makes it easier to create more flattering portraits directly in-camera, without the need for complex post-processing.
The Canon EOS R8 Mark II is also the first camera to feature Canon’s new Dual Pixel 3D imaging technology. With this technology, users can capture JPEGs containing depth information and convert them into 3D content using the free Dual Pixel 3D Converter application for Windows.
Freedom to Stay Connected
The Canon EOS R8 Mark II offers comprehensive connectivity features that make it easy to share content while on the move. Wi-Fi® (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) and Bluetooth® 5.3 enable fast and reliable image and video transfers, while the Canon Camera Connect app provides remote shooting and smartphone sharing capabilities. Automatic backup and image sorting via image.canon provide additional peace of mind while traveling.
The USB-C® connection supports data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps, as well as USB charging and power delivery. This allows users to extend shooting time when needed with a power bank. USB live streaming is also supported, enabling adventures to be shared in real time.
On the video side, 4K recording with oversampling from 6K or higher delivers a high level of detail, while Full HD recording at up to 180 fps expands slow-motion possibilities. Cinema View (2.35:1), along with Custom Picture Profiles including Canon Log 3 and HLG, provides a cinematic look, while Video Digital IS helps keep handheld footage more stable.
Bringing the creative possibilities of a full-frame sensor into a portable body, the Canon EOS R8 Mark II combines image quality, speed, video performance, and creative control in a travel-ready design.
