From the Lens of Zeki Demirkubuz: "Lonely People Give the Best Poses in Life and Photography" Exhibition Opens at CerModern on November 1

CerModern, in collaboration with Art On, hosts the solo exhibition of master director Zeki Demirkubuz titled "Lonely People Give the Best Poses in Life and Photography" between 1-30 November 2025. The selection, consisting of frames taken by the artist in different geographies, addresses the theme of loneliness with a simple, uninterrupted and genuine perspective.

CerModern, one of Turkey's leading contemporary art centers, brings together the photographs of Zeki Demirkubuz, one of the master directors of Turkish cinema, with Ankara art lovers throughout November. Curated by Ebru Yılmaz, the exhibition titled "Lonely People Give the Best Poses in Life and Photography" makes the director's introverted and authentic narrative language, which left its mark in his cinema, visible this time through photographic frames.

Demirkubuz opens an intellectual space in the context of loneliness by using fixed frames and moments spread across different geographies. The selection in the exhibition follows a simple and uninterrupted view, staying away from dramatic structures and visual orientations.

The photographs exist with the directness of loneliness, without relying on any narrative; It offers the audience the opportunity to encounter moments filtered through a silence that does not produce words but carries emotion. Unprepared, unformed states; relationships with the environment, space and light; It clarifies the director's view of loneliness with the shots he scans across Europe, America and Asia. There is no pose in this look, there is stance.

The introverted attitude in Demirkubuz's cinema is redefined as "non-narrative" in his photographs and clings to an internalized principle of authenticity. Reflections that create flow, where time is suspended; It invites the viewer to a field of individual inquiry with loneliness. “Lonely People Give the Best Poses in Life and Photography” presents a selection of loneliness narratives in which Zeki Demirkubuz and curator Ebru Yılmaz consider simplicity as an ethical discipline of gaze, rather than an aesthetic choice.

The exhibition can be viewed every day of the week, except Mondays, between 10:00 and 19:00 until November 30.
