Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), which rewards the world's most prestigious photography and imaging technologies, once again honored Sony's performance and innovation with a total of four TIPA awards.
This year, Sony received the title of "BEST PROFESSIONAL HYBRID CAMERA" with Alpha 9 III and "BEST APS-C EXPERT CAMERA" with Alpha 6700.
BEST APS-C SPECIALIST CAMERA: Sony Alpha 6700
Designed for content creators looking for a wide range of photo and video capture options, the Sony Alpha 6700 incorporates many features adapted from Sony's Cinema Line series models. It also makes it easier to capture moving moments with its excellent performance in low light, thanks to simultaneous monitoring in both video and photo modes, 11 fps photo speed and AI-supported autofocus down to -3EV. Customized video features include improved AI-powered auto-framing for subject tracking when vlogging, a wide range of time-lapse settings, streaming and sharing over USB and WiFi, and Creative Cloud connectivity. The device also offers a unique format called HEIF or High Efficiency Image File, which uses less space while maintaining image quality. This makes the device especially useful for high-frame videos and storing multiple images in burst, HDR and similar high data modes.
PROFESSIONAL HYBRID CAMERA: Sony Alpha 9 III
Alpha 9 III, which simultaneously exposes and records all pixels in the frame when shooting with the global shutter system "rolling shutter", is the first hybrid or video/still full-frame camera that collects all pixels in a single frame. Incredible benefits include a maximum shutter speed of 1/80,000 seconds, framing speeds of up to 120 frames per second with full AF/AE tracking in JPEG and RAW, as well as flash synchronization at all shutter speeds and new Pre-Shooting functions that capture the moments before the shutter is pressed. For videographers, especially social and sports photographers, global shutter eliminates artifacts and artifacts such as flash flickering, light flicker, and screen tearing during video recording. TIPA editors think the global shutter technology in the Sony Alpha 9 III will usher in a whole new breed of hybrid camera that will transform what cameras can shoot and bring new tools and techniques to the professional's bag.
