Melek Zeynep Bulut's work titled "Duo" is getting ready to meet art lovers at the London Design Festival on September 14.
The work is exhibited at the iconic Painted Hall in Greenwich, the United Kingdom, which is considered the junction of the eastern and western hemispheres, the Prime Meridian, and is on the Unesco World Heritage List.
"Duo" will also meet visitors as one of the Landmark Projects of the London Design Festival 2024. "Duo", which is a part of the artist's "Open Monuments" series, which won two international awards in a short time and made a lot of noise, addresses the concept of duality from an innovative perspective. The sensory space that we encounter in Melek Zeynep Bulut's productions and which includes the visitor in the work, also manifests itself in her urban experiments "Duo".
The work is a vault, which is a basic architectural element, but this vault becomes a multi-sensory stage with microphones, reflectors, acrylic reflectors, light editing and vocalizations and is shaped by the visitor. The placement of the work in the iconic Painted Hall is designed as a "second space within the space" and makes a strong reference to reconsidering the body we exist in as a peripheral concept. This multi-sensory vault acts like a skin hanging in the space, making heavy concepts light and harmonious. The artist states that he considers the concept of duality not as an opposition but as unification and integration; He describes the work as a superior and integrating approach to the comparison of matter and meaning, which has been a fundamental question since humanity existed, by ironizing the rules of physics and perception.
London Design Festival, which will take place between 14-22 September, hosts a new mission that aims to celebrate "creativity, innovation and the power of design to shape our world" by focusing on international talents. Bringing creative talents together with the city's landmarks, the festival is considered one of the world's leading design festivals, hosting hundreds of thousands of visitors and dozens of countries.
One of the landmark projects of the festival is "Duo" , by Melek Zeynep Bulut, appearing on the world stage as an extension of the artist's experimental space construction practice. The festival will be opened to art lovers from all over the world on September 14; It will be hosted by important institutions such as Bentley, Victoria & Albert Museum, Mayor of London.
