Did you know these?

  • 18 of the 19 hottest years on record have occurred since 2001.
  • Global mean sea level has increased by approximately 178 mm in the last 100 years. The water level is rising by 3.3 millimeters per year.
  • If greenhouse gas emissions continue at their current rate, global warming will exceed the 1.5ºC limit between 2030 and 2052.
  • Carbon dioxide levels in the air are at their highest level in 650,000 years.

It is possible to reduce the effects of climate change…

According to the '1.5ºC Global Warming Special Report' of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC); It is stated that if global warming remains at 1.5°C, the negative effects of climate change can be stopped compared to temperature increases of 2°C and above. For example, by 2100, the rise in global sea levels will be 10 centimeters less at 1.5°C global warming compared to 2°C warming. With a global warming of 1.5°C, the probability of the Arctic Ocean being ice-free in summer is once in 100 years, while with a warming of 2°C, this will happen at least once a decade. While coral reefs will decrease by 70-90 percent at 1.5°C global warming, almost all of the reefs will disappear at 2°C.
