Istanbul Photo Awards, the international news photography competition traditionally organized by Anadolu Agency (AA) to support press photography, is being held for the 11th time this year.
The deadline for applying to the competition, which accepts online applications only from " www.istanbulphotoawards.com ", has been determined as January 10, 2025.
A total of 58 thousand dollars will be awarded in the competition, where applications will be made with newsworthy photographs taken this year.
Approximately 20 thousand photos are sent to the event, which is considered one of the most important competitions worldwide, every year. There is no requirement to be affiliated with a press organization to apply to the competition, which is open only to professional photographers.
Photographers can participate in the competition with newsworthy photographs taken between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
The Competition Consists of 10 Categories
Within the scope of the competition, applications can be made in 10 categories titled "Single News", "Series News", "Single Sports", "Series Sports", "Single Nature and Environment", "Series Nature and Environment", "Single Portrait", "Series Portrait", "Single Daily Life" and "Series Daily Life".
The "Photo of the Year" award will be given to the photo that comes first in the "Singular News" category, and the photojournalist who took the photo will receive a reward of 6 thousand dollars. The category winners will be awarded 3 thousand dollars, the second place winners will be awarded 1500 dollars, and the third place winners will be awarded 1000 dollars each.
Each contestant has the right to apply in all categories and there is no requirement for the photos submitted to be published.

The winners of the competition will be determined by an international jury consisting of prestigious names from the photography world, as every year, in March next year.
In the competition, with a total prize of 58 thousand dollars, jury members will evaluate the submitted photographs from many different aspects such as technical competence, perspective, movement and emotion.
