The "Pioneering Women of the Republic Exhibition", prepared by Açık Holding as a gift to the 100th anniversary of the Republic and curated by Özlem Özdemir, will meet the people of Ankara between 5-18 March 2024.
The exhibition, which tells the life stories of women who rose with the Republic, was opened in Istanbul on October 27, 2023 and attracted great attention. Açık Holding, which brought the exhibition to life and continues its mission to reach everyone in the following years, continues to embrace the exhibition with the same excitement when it meets the people of Ankara. The exhibition can be seen free of charge and open to everyone between 5-18 March at the Füreya Koral Exhibition Hall at Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center, in cooperation with Çankaya Municipality and KASAİD.
Curator Özlem Özdemir said that she was happy to carry the "Pioneering Women of the Republic Exhibition", which is a historical exhibition with the stories of women who bravely walked through the door of freedom opened by the Republic for women, to the capital Ankara, and added: "By taking the Pioneering Women of the Republic Exhibition, which we realized last year together with Açık Holding, to Ankara, where Atatürk called home, after Istanbul, we continue to reveal with real examples why the Republic is important for us women. We sincerely accept this project." "I would like to thank Açık Holding, which continues to embrace it, and Çankaya Municipality for their support with KASAİD, which allowed us to come to Ankara," he said.
Pointing out that this is the first time a historical exhibition has been held in this context, bringing together the power of women with the values of the Republic, Özdemir gave the following information about the content of the exhibition: "In the first part of the exhibition, which consists of three parts, we reveal Atatürk's view of women chronologically and explain the process of Turkish women gaining their rights by comparing it with the rest of the world. In the second part, we exhibit the lives of 20 pioneer women, where photographs are integrated with biographies. In the last part, we present the names of 100 women, some of whom are among us today, whose names are unknown, from yesterday to today." "We pay tribute to them by remembering them. I hope that the exhibition, which attracted more attention than expected in Istanbul, will also be appreciated by the people of Ankara," he said.
