The second exhibition of Ara Güler Museum, 'Aphrodisias', which was realized by Doğuş Group, which makes significant contributions to culture and art in Turkey, in cooperation with Ara Güler, one of the doyens of photography, meets art lovers.
In the second exhibition of Ara Güler Museum, which was established to convey Ara Güler's versatile artist identity and inspiring life to future generations, a selection from the artist's archive, including photographs of Geyre Village and Aphrodisias Archaeological Site, including original darkroom prints, correspondence with international publications and agencies, travel notes and the Aphrodisias book model he prepared, are exhibited for the first time.
Ara Güler Museum, one of the biggest projects carried out by Doğuş Group in the field of culture and art and established in 2016 as a result of its collaboration with Ara Güler, brings to light the photographs and documents of Aphrodisias, which has a very important place in the master artist's archive.
The new exhibition of Ara Güler Museum, which is Turkey's first photographer museum with international standards, opened its doors to art lovers.
The main body of the 'Aphrodisias' exhibition consists of photographs taken by Ara Güler in and around Geyre Village, which is today registered as the Aphrodisias Archaeological Site and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The exhibition also includes Ara Güler's original darkroom prints about Aphrodisias, his correspondence with international periodicals and agencies regarding the photographs, prints of these publications, as well as clues, notes and a book model about Ara Güler's work during the preparation process of his book Aphrodisias Scream.
The Aphrodisias Exhibition can be visited free of charge at the Ara Güler Museum in bomontiada, Istanbul, until September 2019. The book 'Aphrodisias', prepared by the Ara Güler Museum specifically for the exhibition, can be purchased from the store in the Ara Güler Museum, together with the museum's first publication, 'The Whistling Man'.
