Sometimes, a single frame tells far more than an entire story. The HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2026, launched by Huawei, a pioneer in mobile photography technologies, and held this year under the theme “Now is Your Shot,” has entered its final stretch. The competition, which began on March 24 and invited photographers from around the world to showcase their own perspectives, now has exactly one month remaining. The deadline for this prestigious event, where photography enthusiasts will compete for major global and local awards, has been announced as August 16, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
A Global Meeting Point for Visual Culture
The HUAWEI XMAGE Mobile Photography Competition has been held annually since 2017 and has become one of the most important platforms in the global photography ecosystem. Having received nearly 6 million submissions from more than 170 countries and regions to date, the competition stands out as one of the world’s largest and most influential mobile photography contests. While previous editions focused on emotional connections and the relationship between people and the world through themes such as “A Heartwarming World” and “The World, You and Me,” this year’s “Now is Your Shot” theme represents a brand-new era of creativity.
Last year, a powerful story from Türkiye also made an impact on the global stage. Photographer Mehmet Emin Coruş from Tokat achieved second place worldwide, launching an inspiring journey from local recognition to global success. In an effort to expand the global photography community, Huawei is continuing to bring together technology, culture, and experience by expanding the collaborative XMAGE Atelier workshop series, which it launched last year in cities such as Shanghai, Anji, Lishui, and Paris, to more cities this year.
A Broad Category Structure for Creative Expression
This year, participants can compete across nine different categories designed to allow them to express themselves freely. The Telephoto category, which reveals flawless details from afar; the Color and Shadow category, for those who want to tell their stories through the interplay of colors and shadows; and the Nightscapes category, which captures the mystery of the night, all place technical skill at the forefront. The Faces category, which demonstrates that every face carries a different story; A Heartwarming World, which freezes life’s gentle touches in time; and the Experimental category, which aims to break conventions and open new ground in visual storytelling, reward artistic depth. Alongside the Rhythm of Motion category, which captures the excitement of movement, participants are also offered a broad creative space through the Storytelling category, which forms a compelling whole using 3 to 9 photographs from different perspectives, and the Action category, which dynamically shapes the narrative.
Participation Page and Easy Application Steps
Photography enthusiasts who want to join the competition can complete all procedures quickly through the HUAWEI Community platform. To participate, users must first visit the current application page. Users who already have an account on the platform can log in directly, while those without an account are required to quickly create one using their email address or phone number and verify the confirmation code received via email or SMS. After logging in, participants need to select the category that best suits their work, provide their email address for communication and their Instagram username if applicable, and then accept the user and privacy agreements. In the final step, a title is assigned to the submitted work, the image or video file is uploaded to the system, and the application is completed by entering a brief description summarizing the story behind the work. Participants should make sure they have selected the correct category before uploading their work.
A $10,000 Grand Prize and a Special Türkiye Selection
HUAWEI XMAGE 2026 offers participants not only prestige but also the opportunity to win highly valuable awards at both global and local levels. As in the previous year, the competition jury will select the global “XMAGE 100” list featuring the best photographs. Three globally selected “Grand Prize” winners will each receive a cash prize of $10,000, while every participant included in the XMAGE 100 selection will receive $1,500. In Türkiye, the overall first-place winner will receive a HUAWEI Mate X7, the second-place winner a HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra, and the third-place winner a HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro. In category-based rankings, first place will receive a HUAWEI Nova 14 Pro, second place a HUAWEI FreeClip 2, and third place a HUAWEI WATCH Fit 4.
Official Participation Requirements and Important Details
Participation in the competition is completely free and is open only to individual users aged 18 and over. All submissions must be completed directly through the official participation page by logging in with a valid HUAWEI ID, and the final submission deadline is set at August 16, 2026, 11:59 PM Türkiye time (GMT+3). Each participant may enter the competition with a maximum of 30 works. Submitted photographs must be uploaded in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format, while videos must be in MP4 format. To ensure fairness during the evaluation process, all uploaded works must contain their original camera metadata (EXIF) and must not have been altered through manipulation or composite techniques. Participants are legally required to personally own all copyright and intellectual property rights to the works they submit and must not infringe upon the rights of third parties. Content that is illegal, infringes copyright, contains violence, or is deemed inappropriate will be directly disqualified. Everyone who applies is considered to have accepted the competition terms and conditions, privacy agreement, and user notice in advance.
