Artist Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan’s first photography exhibition, “Noksan,” opens to art lovers at LEE Art Project on September 30. Bringing together photographs taken by Taylan across different geographies, the exhibition invites viewers to look beyond what is presented within the frame and complete what remains unseen.
LEE Art Project opens the new art season with artist Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan’s first photography exhibition, titled “Noksan.” Continuing his artistic practice across different disciplines, Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan is now preparing to share the world as reflected through his lens with art lovers. As the artist’s first photography exhibition, “Noksan” will be open to visitors at LEE Art Project at Polat Piyalepaşa Çarşı from September 30 to October 30, 2026. Fifty percent of the proceeds from sales made as part of the exhibition will be donated to support the needs of children undergoing cancer treatment.
What gives an image its soul?
Spanning misty plains and frozen lakes to urban structures and abandoned objects, the selection brings together diverse landscapes within a shared atmosphere shaped by absence, solitude, and the absence of human presence. In these scenes, where people are physically absent, objects become powerful storytellers, carrying the traces left behind by the missing subject.
“The thing that completes an image and gives it its soul is often the very incompleteness it contains,” says the artist, inviting us to move beyond the superficiality of perfection and look instead at the beauty of loss, absence, and resisting oblivion.
Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan draws attention to this connection, stating: “Incompleteness is a void that remains unfilled no matter what we do, a void that reminds us of our solitude in every image. Yet, despite this, it transforms into a bond in which absence and interruption make genuine love and holding on to one another possible.”
